every fashion season I plough through hundreds, nay, probably thousands of images on style.com. and just about every season the balenciaga collection sticks in my mind and I replay those images over and over in my head, sometimes for years to come. designer, nicolas ghesquiere is some kind of genius, always several seasons ahead of everyone else (who was ready for a high waisted silhouette back in 2003?).
so, here's recap of some of the looks I've marvelled at over the years.
Spring 2002
the glam cargo... oh how I did covet those patchwork tops
Winter 2003
high waisted jeans and a modern interpretation of patchwork
another story in the winter 2003 collection. kind of like a sheep went to the hairdresser...
Summer 2003
beautiful body conscious blues. as seen in kylie's film clip for slow
leggings and a fucked up baseball top
fall 2007
i found the combination of ikat fabric and prep school blazers so exciting when I first saw it. I was less enthralled when I saw the rather literal Zara interpretations.
summer 2008
the latest collection... balenciaga gets grid iron with florals appearing in hefty shoulder silhouettes, as pom poms and laced up like a football
and special mention must be made of balenciaga shoes. don't know how the high street is going to copy those lego shoes...
