Being a fan of Kate Rohde's work I was obviously delighted to find out about Mr Potter's Museum of Curiosities.
Created by Mr Potter, a self-taught 19th century taxidermist, the museum featured over 6,000 stuffed animals placed in dioramas, engaging in all manner of activities, such a gang of cats at a wedding, mice drinking tea and squirrels playing cards.
There is now a major legal hooha between, former owner John Watts and Bohnams, the auction company he charged with the task of selling the collection in 2003. Watts claims he asked Bonhams to try keep the Museum together, however the auctioneers failed to inform Watts of a one million pound offer from Damien Hirst and the collection was auctioned off in separate lots.
