So… this is no “stop the presses” post, but that’s just because Ben Quilty rose to fame (on the Australia art scene at least) before I started this blog.
Anyway, he paints he’s been locked in a gelato parlour and somehow, cake decorating utensils in hand, manages to create deliciously edible images like these.

This painting (as well as the two above) of our fabulously shunned former PM was part of the show "Pride and Patriotism" and Quilty told SMH journo Lenny Ann Low that "they are of people who have held positions of power or shirked responsibility." I'd say Howard did both..
